The people building the aircraft

Stevens SAE Aero Design is in its founding year. Below are the people leading the first build. Members are joining as recruiting continues.

Leadership

Ziyu Wang

Co-director

Co-founded the team in 2026. Is responsible for the technical baseline of the aircraft, including aerodynamics, structures, and electronics. Works closely with chief engineer and leads.

Mahdy Muratov

Co-director

Co-founded the team in 2026. Is responsible for entire program, including technical, financial, and recruting. Steers the teams into the right direction by setting goals and building long-term foundation.

Anthony Ventresca

Chief engineer

Owns the technical baseline of the aircraft and keeps analysis, structures, electronics, and manufacturing converging on one airframe. Has built and flown unmanned aircraft before this program.

Sub-team leads

Four leads, four disciplines

Each lead owns their discipline through the founding year and decides how their part of the aircraft gets designed and made.

Gavin Tan-TorresAerodynamics

Sizes the wing and works out how much the aircraft can carry and how it will behave in the air.

Sean MarvuglioStructures

Load paths, material choices, and the weight budget.

Will ParaspoloElectronics and propulsion

Selects and integrates propulsion, power, and the radio link the pilot flies on.

Ethan CasaleManufacturing

Turns CAD into a flying airframe, and owns the tooling and assembly that keep the schedule together.

Members are still being placed onto sub-teams and will be listed once roles are set. We have not appointed a faculty advisor yet; SAE requires one, and we will name ours here as soon as it is confirmed.

We want you on the team.
